OC Fair

Yesterday, Ian and I went to the Orange County Fair with our good friends, The Sukraws! We go every year and have made this a tradition with them for the third year in a row. Of course, we ate lots of fattening fried foods, including a deep fried twinkie! I was bummed though, because they moved the maternity barn and I didn't get to see the baby sheep, which I absolutely love! And we didn't do any rides, because Ian can't stomach them and The Sukraws weren't feeling it either. So, I think another trip is coming soon. I need someone to go on the rides with though. Other than that, we had a blast!

Ian's Good News!

News #1: Ian has a new job! He was just offered a job at a new resort, called Pelican Hill, opening in September in the Newport Coast area of Orange County. He will actually be taking a step down in position, but will be making more money. He is excited about this new opportunity and I am thrilled for him!

News #2: Ian also has had two reviews recently. They are both for the restaurant, Kimera, where he was the pastry chef. One was a couple of months ago in Live OC Magazine. It used to be online, but they recently changed their website and I can't find it anymore to link to. The newest one is in Orange Coast Magazine. I can't find this one online either, so if you see the magazine, read the article and see how awesome my hubby is! If I find them online later, I will post the links.

Trees

Ian and I recently took a drive through Mojeska Canyon. We were looking for the perfect place to take pictures. Most of the canyon was brown and dry and desert like though and we couldn't find anything that struck inspiration. Until we turned down a private road. Across from someone's house there was a patch of trees. They looked like they had been burned in the fires from last year. We pulled over on the side of the road and explored the trees. I wished I had worn closed toe shoes, because I was too afraid to wander too far in the trees without them.

Photoshoot of Kyan

While we were at the park, I was playing with Kyan and started taking some pictures of him. They turned out really cute, I think. He was smiley and willing to let me take the pictures. Of course, being the true boy that he is, his face was covered in dirt!

This is his Buzz Lightyear pose from Toy Story!

Family Get Together at the Park

Once a month, Ian's family tries to get everyone together. Since we all have our own very busy schedules, it makes getting together more difficult and everyone usually throws a fit about something. Most of the time, we just meet at Ian's mom's house for dinner or a BBQ, but this time,
we went to this beautiful park.
Where we all had a good time relaxing in the breeze, eating, and playing games of football, horse shoes, frisbee, and golf.
(if you click on the mosaic, it gets larger)
Here is Aidan, the golfer.
And here he is "teaching" "grandpa dreg" how to golf.
Everyone had a good time and the kids had fun running around and trying to get in the creek. It was a good change of pace for us and I think we will try it again.

The 4th of July

For the 4th of July, Ian and I spent the day at his brother's house BBQing and hanging out. Luckily, it wasn't too hot. We enjoyed lots of good food, including Robin's congo bars, which I think Ian ate about 10 of. We ended up double booking though, like every year, and spent the evening at our friend Don's house in Dana Point. We walked to a church close by and watched the fireworks from a cliff above the harbor.  It was so much fun, but Ian had a little too much to drink, so our night ended kind of early.

The girls did the BBQing!

A neighbor brought out his birds and the nephews loved it.

The only pic I got of me and my old man.

Luckily, Ian forgot his bathing suit.

Emily getting thrown in the pool.

Chris jumping over the fireworks! The boys got in trouble for doing this.

Fireworks by our house on another night.
